Math Whiz Meets Math Quiz

On Friday the school Faith and I attend (Georgia International Academy) had its annual quiz bee for spelling, social studies, science and math. I qualified for the spelling bee and the math bee. I finished in fourth place in the spelling bee; however, my group finished in first place in the math bee! This means we will represent our school in the city-wide math bee!

Also I apologize for not blogging in a while, and I will try to blog more often, sincerely Eric

New School

The first day of school was June 15, 2009. It was pretty easy, but that’s probably because we were just having orientation; and I made a friend named Andrew. The second day was pretty much the same because we were still doing orientation. The third day was harder--the hardest class was definitely Filipino. Day four was pretty much the same, except the friend I had made on the first day had gotten closer to me. Day five was the same except for the fact that I had art on that day.

What You can Do with a Dollar

Our Auntie Gina came to visit and she brought a book given to me by my cousin Brylee called the Buck Book. It came with a free dollar bill and instructions on how to make origami with a dollar. Here are four of the things you can make:
a dollar bill ring

a Buffalo Bill Badge

a bow tie

and a peacock.

Isn’t it amazing what you can do with the common, ordinary dollar bill?

Summer Camps with Camp Sonshine

This year me (Eric), and my sister Faith decided that instead of being campers we were going to be assistant counselors. After we chose who we wanted to help, we went with them to help them get ready for camp. I decided to help with games, while Faith helped with crafts. The first week was lots of fun. But, unfortunately, Faithy had to go to summer school during the second camp in Antique (an-TEA-key). At that camp I helped with games again and one night we played hide-and-seek in a nearby cemetery it was awesome. But the next camp will be the best, Bacolod (BUH-coal-lud) camp, it’s our favorite camp because in this camp we are always campers me and Faithy can hardly wait for the camp to start. Oh, by the way I’m sorry I didn’t blog sooner it’s just been so busy, next week I promise there will be more updates, Eric out.

A Trip to the Country

Last weekend me (Eric), my Dad, and Faithy went on a trip to Lambunao (Lam-boo-now) with the Calvary interns, we spent the night. On the first day we showed a movie on a big screen using a laptop and a projector. We also had a campfire and made s'mores. The next day was Sunday so some of the interns did kid's church, while others did the Sunday service. Faithy and I went to kid's church; it was a lot of fun! We had a lot of fun, but home is best.

God Answers Prayer

About a week ago we posted a prayer list of things we were praying for. Now two of those prayers have been answered. Last Saturday we took our entrance exams for our new school. They were pretty easy and we both finished early.

When we got home Mom told us that we were going to be dog sitting a friend's dog, they were going out of town. We found out that this family is actually leaving the Philippines, so the dog is now ours. And now he has become a member of our family. It just goes to show that God can answer prayers.

Prayer List

Here are some prayer needs for us and our family:
-A new puppy
-Good health
-Funds for a car
-Help on our entrance exam

Weekly Routine

Every week in the Philippines has a basic routine for us. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we do home school, on Wednesday we either go shopping, or I (Eric) get my braces tightened, on Saturday we go to Kids Club at the Sonshine Center and on Sundays we go to church, at Victory Christian Fellowship, and then we go home and we all play a game, except our little brother. And that is an average week for our family.
